"The Planter" was painted while I was visiting my home in South Africa with my wife, shortly after our first walk along the mountainside, an experience that left me breathless and grounded. Back in the quiet part of my backyard, I found stillness in a simple subject, one of the planters that caught my eye. Painted in oils on a canvas panel, purchased in South Africa, this piece captures a sunlit afternoon of rest after exertion.
