New Artist Vlog Series: My Life as an Artist
I'm excited to share something deeply personal, the ongoing Artist Vlog Series, My Life as an Artist. This series takes you behind the scenes into my daily life as a working artist, the struggles, the breakthroughs, and the moments of clarity that come when living fully in one's purpose.
Through this vlog, I open the doors of The Studio of Lessie Venardo Dixon to give you a closer look at the creative process. The unfinished canvases, the quiet hours of reflection, and the drive to tell stories that speak truth to the Afrocentric experience.

We are now in episode 10, and the journey continues. In this episode, I begin a sketch that will evolve into a three quarters vignette portrait of head and torso of Credo Mutwa, the renowned South African Shaman and keeper of ancestral wisdom. His teachings and spiritual presence have deeply influenced my practice of "Drawing in the Presence," and this portrait is my tribute to that connection.
This journey extends far beyond the studio walls. From Chicago to South Africa, I've been traveling to connect spiritually with my artwork, exploring how art becomes a bridge between self, ancestry, and the divine.
