"Dead Roses" was born from my first transformative trip to Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2023. The moment I stepped off the plane, I felt an overwhelming sense of belonging-like I had rediscovered something I didn't even realize I was missing. This feeling fueled my creative spirit, and after a week of exploring Mpumalanga, South Africa, I finally made it to Johannesburg to unpacked my art supplies again to create something meaningful.
 
Initially, I struggled to find inspiration until my eyes landed on a vase filled with lifeless roses. While others might overlook such a subject, I saw its beauty and potential. When I told my girlfriend at the time I planned to paint "Dead Roses," she was skeptical, questioning why I'd choose such a subject. But as I brought the painting in my mind to life on the canvas, her doubt turned to admiration. By the end, she couldn't believe how stunning the piece had become.
